The highest rewarding deed for a Muslim is to give charity. It is a true act of compassion and a Sunnah in Islam. The act of giving is highly regarded in Islam and was endorsed deeply by our beloved Holy Prophet (SAW).
The Holy Prophet (SAW) esteemed those who took it upon themselves to give care to orphans and widows. He mentioned that such a person will find a place in heaven (Al-Bukhari). He himself was an orphan and Allah (SWT) chose him to bring about the greatest of changes in society that the world had ever seen. Therefore, instead of idly watching these children suffer in silence, we as a community need to care for them.
Sponsoring a widow or an orphan are some of the best ways we can perform charity. Helping the weak of our society bears the highest of rewards. Muslims should protect one another, therefore whenever we come across orphans or widows, we should try and help them. The Quran says: “And they feed, for the love of Allah, the poor, the orphan, and the captive…” (Surah al-Insaan, 8)
We take pride in being responsive, making a difference at a critical point in peoples’ lives. We have been doing this since 2010, working with veterans of every conflict, and we envisage continuing doing so for the ‘long haul’ – supporting all future generations of our soldiers and their dependants.
